Our Story
child is a high-quality preschool in New Zealand setting a standard in both education and staffing. We offer five innovative and individual learning environments, catering for all preschool children from birth to five years, ensuring continuity of progress in these all-important formative years.
Our purpose-built preschool rooms are designed solely for the child. These unique surroundings set our children on a journey of accelerated learning and self-discovery whilst building their confidence and self-esteem. Through a diverse educational programme, your child will learn, grow, and develop in an inspirational environment.
Our holistic teaching programmes are of the highest standard, utilising structured learning plans, lesson evaluations, and child-initiated activities.

We guide our children by providing them with an intriguing array of outdoor areas, art, books, and learning materials. We believe that childhood should be a joyful and exciting time — and if guided properly, children will learn without even knowing they are learning.
Above all, we firmly believe that children need to be nurtured in an environment where their creativity and imagination is embraced. In other words, where children can be children.

Outside, the learning continues with an outdoor adventure-land. All-weather covered play areas, a variety of play surfaces, large shaded areas for sun protection, climbing equipment, playgrounds, sandpits, flower and vegetable gardens, and paths where children can ride bikes.

A staffroom with an adjoining teacher resource and planning room, laundry, and meeting room — ensuring teachers are well-resourced and supported.

Lee Clark
Owner & Founder
Lee is a fully qualified Early Childhood Teacher with many years of experience both nationally and internationally. She is on site every day and is very involved in the day-to-day running and planning of the learning environment. Lee is always available for discussions and face-to-face meetings with parents.
Shohini Ghosh
Preschool Manager
Shohini is a fully qualified Early Childhood Teacher with a wide range of international experience including management. She has been associated with child for 8 years — as a teacher, a supervisor, and now Preschool Manager. Shohini is hands-on and present every day alongside Lee.
Our Team
Qualified, Registered & Experienced Teachers
Our teachers are carefully selected based on experience, compassion, and creativity. All registered teachers hold first-aid certificates, have undergone police and security checks. They're at child because they have a genuine passion for young children.
