Government Subsidies Explained
We want to make sure you're getting every bit of support you're entitled to. Here are the key subsidies available to families.
20 Hours ECE
All children aged 3 to 6 years who attend a licensed ECE service are eligible for up to 20 hours of subsidised early childhood education per week. This is automatically applied to your fees — no separate application needed. At child, this reduces the daily rate for 3–6 year olds to $74 per day.
WINZ Childcare Subsidy
If you're working, training, studying, or have a health-related reason for needing childcare, you may be eligible for a Work and Income (WINZ) childcare subsidy. The amount depends on your family income, hours of care, and the number of children. You can apply through Work and Income or your local WINZ office.
Family Boost
Family Boost is a childcare payment administered by the Inland Revenue Department to help families pay for the cost of early childhood education. Please contact IRD to see if you are eligible.
