  • Your first name, last name, email address and phone number (optional)
  • Your child's first name, last name and date of birth (optional)
  • Your preferred start date (optional) and the message you write

When you browse the site: technical information such as your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you visit, how you arrived, and whether you click our phone number or email address. This is collected by tools described under "Analytics, advertising and cookies" below.

Why we collect it

  • To reply to your enquiry, arrange a visit and talk to you about enrolment
  • To protect the enquiry form from spam and automated abuse
  • To understand how the website is used and to measure and improve our advertising

We do not sell your personal information.

What happens when you send an enquiry

Your enquiry goes from your browser to a secure service hosted by Amazon Web Services in Australia, which emails it to our team at lee@child.co.nz. The form is checked by Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise, which uses information about your browser and how you use the page to tell people from bots. Your enquiry is not published anywhere.

Who else sees your information

We use these services to run the website. Each may handle some of your information under its own privacy policy:

  • Amazon Web Services: processes and emails your enquiry
  • Google: reCAPTCHA Enterprise (spam protection), Google Analytics and Google Ads (measurement and advertising), Google Fonts and Google Maps (page appearance and our location map)
  • Meta (Facebook and Instagram): the Meta Pixel, used to measure and improve our advertising

Some of these providers store or process information outside New Zealand, including in the United States. We use them because they provide comparable privacy protections or because they are bound by their own published privacy commitments. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

Analytics, advertising and cookies

The Google tag and Meta Pixel on this site set cookies and similar identifiers in your browser. They record page views and actions such as clicking our phone number or email link, so we can see which pages and ads lead families to contact us. We do not use them to collect your child's details.

You can limit this by:

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details only for as long as we need them for the purposes above. If you enrol, your information is then handled as part of your child's enrolment records, which early childhood services must keep under Ministry of Education requirements.

Keeping it safe

The enquiry form sends your details over an encrypted connection, and access to enquiry emails is limited to our team. No online system is completely secure, so please do not put sensitive information (such as medical details or bank information) in the enquiry form. Tell us in person or by phone instead.

Children's information

The enquiry form is for parents and caregivers. We only ask for your child's name and date of birth so we can discuss availability and age-appropriate rooms. Please do not use the form to send details of a child who is not yours.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you or your child, and ask us to correct it. Email lee@child.co.nz and we will respond within 20 working days.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first. You can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz or 0800 803 909.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change and show the date of the latest update at the top.
